In collaboration with a community of Franciscan brothers, the Daughters of St. Paul of Prague recently held a Bible Mission in Liberec, a city with a reputation for being strongly atheist. It was the first mission of this type to be held in northern Bohemia in 67 years.
Since one of the FSPs in the Prague community is from Liberec, she and a group of lay collaborators paved the way for the event through posters and leaflets, as well as through information posted on the community?s web site.
The mission?s program included an exhibit on Christianity and its history, encounters with people in a special tent set up for the occasion, the diffusion of books and audiovisuals, conferences, and interviews conducted by different media (TV, radio, newspapers).
Our sisters were happy to discover that the citizens of Liberec were very willing to speak with them, many out of a desire to learn more about people who even today, in the name of Jesus, transmit peace and a smile to others, and who are willing to dedicate precious time to them so as to help them spiritually.
