Conference on the Shroud of Turin On 17 March 2024, the Pauline Books & Media Center in Dedham Massachusetts), USA, hosted a fascinating presentation on the Shroud of Turin by Dr. Gibert Lavoie, a medical doctor who has pursued a forensic and scriptural study of the Shroud for more than 40 years. His juxtaposition of scientific findings with John’s Gospel account of the death and resurrection of Jesus roused great interest in the more than 100 people present for his talk. Dr. Lavoie’s input came alive through relatable, real-world scientific witnesses who explored whether the image on the Shroud was the work of human hands, a natural phenomenon, or a supernatural event.
The participants in the encounter expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of the spiritual and scientific explanations of the world-famous Shroud. Copies of Dr. Lavoie’s book presenting his findings were on display during his talk and nearly all the attendees purchased the text. The doctor autographed the copies of his book and readily answered questions from the audience, making it a truly enriching and meaningful experience for everyone.
