The Internet and today’s new technologies are not phenomena to be demonized but instruments Christians must strive to understand and use so as to permeate the areopagus of communications with the power of the Gospel.
Naturally this must be done competently, but also with the trust that has always characterized Christianity’s rapport with the new languages of communication.
It was with this in mind that the Italian Episcopal Conference’s Commission for Culture and Social Communications organized a meeting to be held in Rome from 24-26 April on the theme, Digital Witnesses: Faces and Languages in the Cross-Media Age (www.testimonidigitali.it), an event that will conclude with an audience with the Pope.
More than 1200 people will be participating in this encounter, including many Daughters of St. Paul and their collaborators, who see it as an opportunity to visibly manifest their commitment to placing communications at the service of the Gospel.
