The 2024 edition of the Bible Festival took place from 6-12 May this year on the theme Agape (1 John 4:7-21): “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”
“To pay homage to the entire biblical body in this very special year,” says its newsletter, “the Festival has chosen a theme that runs through all of Scripture – one powerful in its essentiality and almost radical for these times. That theme is agape, the most expansive and substantial form of love because it suggests how to inhabit the world as its citizens, expressed in the concrete relationships of everyday life.”
The Bible Festival, first promoted in 2005 by the diocese of Vicenza in collaboration with the Society of St Paul, has always combined the typical style of a festival with the content of Holy Scripture, giving human society the opportunity to read current events in a new light.
