On 24 February 2010, Sr Gemma Simmonds, a sister from the Congregation of Jesus who lectures in pastoral theology and spirituality at Heythrop College, University of London gave a Lenten reflection at Holy Family Parish in Langley, UK.
Using the images and reflections of Glimpses of the Divine: The Art and Inspiration of Sieger Koder published by Pauline Books & Media UK, Sr Gemma stressed how Scripture sheds light on our daily lives, and how we can understand better the Good News through a deeper awareness of our humdrum experiences. The season of Lent, so rich in symbols and sacred words, is the best time for prayer and silence to discover a glimpse of God.
The reflection was greatly appreciated by the parish priest, Fr. Kevin O?Driscoll, and his parishioners. They expressed their gratitude to the Daughters of St Paul for our mission and collaboration in the spiritual growth of the parish by inviting authors and friends for conferences and retreats. Copies of the book and other titles written by Sr Gemma were made available at the end of the talk.
