Tayde de Callatay has been elected the new president of the International Association of Charities (AIC), the oldest lay association in the history of volunteer work, for a 3-year term of office. The election took place at the end of the Association’s International Assembly held from 21-25 March in Frascati (Rome), during which its initiatives and solidarity projects in different countries around the world were reviewed.
The press release says that the Belgian woman, who was elected by the 150 delegates representing the Association’s national presidents and executives gathered in Frascati, takes over the office from Rose de Lima Ramanankavana of Madagascar, who led the AIC in the preceding three-year period.
More than 100,000 volunteers in over 56 countries around the world make up the AIC network, which serves society’s most disadvantaged members on a daily basis, with the goal of building a better world together.
