25 January 2023 marked an important date for the large FSP Delegation comprised of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Malawi and Zambia. On that date, the Delegation government joined the community in Lusaka (Zambia) for the inauguration of its new Pauline Center, made up of a book center and house for the sisters. Right Reverend Raphael Mweempwa, Bishop of the diocese of Monze, presided over the inauguration, which was attended by priests, sisters, collaborators and friends of the Daughters of St. Paul.
Delegation Superior, Sr. Rosemary Mueni Mwaiwa, reminded everyone that the Daughters of St. Paul have been in Zambia since 1994 and until 2021 they lived in a little house they had purchased, while instead their apostolic center was rented. But this “temporary” arrangement lasted for 27 years! Finally, in 2021, the sisters were able to tear down their small residence and construct a new building for the community’s book center and living quarters. This project was launched in response to their desire to give new impetus to the Pauline mission in Zambia and intensify their work of evangelization outside the capital.
Bishop Mweempwa complimented the Daughters of St. Paul for this courageous expansion project, which was made possible in part through the generosity of the Congregation, its benefactors and various international agencies.
