The Daughters of St. Paul of Korea are celebrating their Provincial Chapter from 15-30 November. The event, which is being held in the city of Yeoju, focuses on the theme of our upcoming 10th General Chapter: “We believe and so we speak” (2 Co. 4:13). With bold and prophetic faith we offer everyone the charity of the truth.
The opening Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Apostolic Nuncio Osvaldo Padillasi, who said in his homily: “The theme of your Chapter is very appropriate to your mission: We believe and therefore we speak…. Like St. Paul, we are awed by the love that surrounds our work and our lives in the service of Jesus. We are instruments of the Holy Spirit. The Church invites us all to reflect on the Word of God. We recognize that God uses us to spread his Word.”
In her welcome address, Provincial Superior Sr. Ausilia Chung reminded the Chapter delegates that “the Holy Spirit has called us to represent the entire Korean Province and he is urging us to be docile instruments of the new evangelization. We can do this by listening to one another, sharing ideas and discerning together in humility and fidelity to the will of the Lord.”
The sisters then spent a day-long retreat reflecting on Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, so as to enter more deeply into the spirit of the new evangelization and the Year of Faith.
Looking back over the Province’s journey over the past 6 years, our sisters say that in spite of the many sacrifices involved they cannot help but praise the Lord for fructifying their Pauline life and apostolate notwithstanding their limitations. Urged on by the new evangelization, the Church is inviting all believers to boldly live their Faith, and our sisters have enthusiastically welcomed this invitation, their gaze fixed on the future. We send them our best wishes and ask the Lord to make the Pauline mission in Korea and throughout the world an always-clearer prophecy of the new times.
