On February 8, Safer Internet Day was celebrated all over the world. This 19th edition of the Day focused primarily on teaching children and teenagers how to approach the Internet in a safer way, given the fact that every day about 175,000 young people worldwide connect to the Internet for the first time in their lives–an average of one child every half second.
Safer Internet Day was established by the European Commission in 2004 with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of the Internet and promoting safer and more responsible use of the Web and new technologies.
